Dont Wait Til It's Cool..
What a day of back-to-back moments that reminded me why I do what I do! On the very same day my work was featured in Raleigh’s “Celebrating 50 Years of Hip-Hop” exhibit at the City of Raleigh Museum, I also had the honor of showcasing my photography in Charlotte, NC at the Black Creative Conference for the “Don’t Wait Til It’s Cool” exhibit.
To experience two cities, two powerful cultural celebrations, and two platforms that highlight the impact of art and storytelling all in one day was surreal. The “Don’t Wait Til It’s Cool” exhibit resonated deeply with me—it’s about valuing Black creativity as it happens, not just when it’s validated by trends or the mainstream.
Standing alongside other Black creatives whose work inspires and challenges me reminded me that my lens is part of a much bigger narrative—a movement of capturing truth, resilience, and beauty. I’m incredibly grateful to both the City of Raleigh Museum and the Black Creative Conference for recognizing and uplifting the voices of artists like me.
